We will be in Venice for the Regatta ( Sat and Sun) I have read that bars ( cafes) are mostly closed .the Vaporetto ends early etc...but surely during this holiday weekend everything is open and open longer hours.Trying to plan some evening trips but have not heard what Venice is like duing this time.

What do you mean by "evening trips" and why would they be affected by the regatta? It's true that many business close during the regatta because it's heavily attended by the locals. We were there in 2003 and it was a blast.
