We are planning our European vacation our two nights in Venice will be April 25 & 26. Just found out that the 25th is a celebration day Gondola races and? We do not have accomodations yet, and don't want terrific crowds. It will be difficult to change dates, but not impossible. Anyone been during that celebration? Will we have a hard time finding a room? Have any suggestions?
Thank you so very much.
The best way to find out if you're going to have trouble finding a room then is to try the booking websites for a couple of hotels there. Or email them. You don't have to commit to the dates to find out if they're available.
Just to look at the situation with a humor, read THE SECOND VENICE by Askin Ozcan (ISBN 1598000888)
a fabulous fantasy humor. THE SECOND VENICE is built by Pshht Cola and McBigBite to respond to the difficulty of finding a hotel room in Venice.

All joking apart- when there is no room in Venice,
try Mestre- just a few miles away. Even in the railway station in Venice, hotel booking can help you. (or at the airport)
People live in places like Padua or Trieste and commute everyday to their jobs in Venice. Mestre mostly has a room, when Venice is full up.
I appreciate the replies given so far. What I REALLY need to hear is how crowded this date makes Venice, and should we be looking at another date? Anyone experience Venice during a Carnival or??
We want to experience Venice, not get run over (hard to do w/o a car Ha ha)
