Venice - Dinner-Where to go

I will be in Venice in a few weeks, and need a place to eat for one evening. Has anyone gone to Pubs or wine bars, they call them Cicchetti , like a tapa bar. Has anyone been to cicchetti bars and if so did you go to a few in an evening, was the food good and the wine? Was it fun? Would you go to cicchetti bars if you went back to Venice? Or do you have any nice restaurants that would be better to go to?

Thanks for your suggestions and advice.

I can't help you with cicchetti. I liked Impronta cafe. It was my favorite place in Venice. You can find info. on tripadvisor. It's good to get recommendations for Venice. There's a lot of mediocre places. St. Mark's square area (no surprise) is the worst area for prices and food.

My standing recommendation for a Venetian restaurant is Paradiso Perduto in Cannaregio. They do a great lunch, as I discovered on my own in 2011 for lunch (I was early) and then dinner with friends two years later. Photos and a video clip here:

If you are interested in a cicchetti, Alessandro Schezzini does a bar tour for a reasonable cost. I haven't done it yet (I'll be there in November), but I read a lot great things about it on this website.

I agree with Angela. Alessandro does a great bar crawl. We loved all three of the places he took us and would have had a hard time putting it together ourselves.

Me three. I was with Alessandro for his Cicchetti Tour in May. Great fun, plenty of excellent cicchetti and good wines, including the region's best, Amarone. I never would have found and enjoyed those spots on my own. The food and drink was worth the price of the tour, with Alessandro himself tossed in as a bonus!
