Venice Dinner Recommendations

Hey guys!

We will be getting into Italy (Milan) June 4th at 12:20pm. We will take the train to Venice upon landing. I figured it will be kind of later when we actually get into Venice that night and we probably won't be up for much. Maybe a walk, quick dinner and early bed time. However, the next day is our first full day. This trip is for our honeymoon and I am looking for great places to eat to kick off the trip properly. I was hoping someone could recommend a restaurant for lunch that day and a restaurant for dinner. I have looked at Rick's recommendations in his book and have some ideas. However, I would love to hear recommendations from you guys as well!

Thank you!

If you land at 12:20, by the time you clear passport control and get the train, it will be quite late afternoon. Consider grabbing sandwiches at the station (we like Bar Centrale and Vyta at Milano Centrale) to eat on the train.

Once in Venice it might depend on where you are staying, how far you want to walk, and any preferences and price sensitivity. Do you like seafood? Is this to be a fancy celebratory dinner or a casual bite?

It is for our honeymoon and we want the trip to start off great, so I would say celebratory. We are centrally located within Venice so pretty much anywhere is ok for us. Any type of food, establishment, type of ambiance, etc is within the realm of possibilities. Just hoping to hear what people really enjoyed while there.

We ate here last August for our last meal in Italy. We had a group of seven and everyone loved their food. It is on the water right across from Cemetery island. Beautiful view. We made reservations the day before.

In the Rialto Bridge area there is a great place for lunch. It's Trattoria Da Marco Valla Fava on Calle Stagneri. Some of the best sea food ever!! Try to eat inside rather than outside. The place has been around at least 50 years so they must be doing it right.

Tonight we ate at Trattatoria Dona Onesta as recommended by A-A above and the food, service ambiance were perfect. We had a table for two canal side. The owner and his wife were lovely. Her father started the restaurant 30 years ago. Professionally she is a dentist but also works at the restaurant as it’s very difficult to get employees. We had a reservation.
