Venice Day Tours to Dolomites

Hi - Our booking through Viator was mixed up and they wanted to split a two day tour giving us a day off in the middle. This doesn't work with our travel schedule.
As a result, our trip to the Dolomites was canceled. It was one of the highlights we were looking forward to.
*Does anybody know a company besides Viator/Adventure Bellissime?
OR
*Could you give tips so we can do a day trip from Venice on our own?

We are going to do a day trip to Verona...Roman amphitheatre,
Romeo & Juliet balcony and many other sights-just a short train
ride from Venice

I can think of a couple of ideas.

Plan A: take a 3 train connection to Calalzo, depart Venice SL 7:31, arrive Calalzo 10:27. Then local bus depart 10:40. arrive Cortina d'Ampezzo 11:38. Spend 1 1/2 hours in Cortina, then depart 13:05, arrive Dobbiaco/Toblach 13:45, then another 3 train connection depart 14:25, arrive Venezia SL 19:48.
This will give views of the Dolomites from Cortina, as well as the from the bus to Dobbiaco, and the train (left side) to Fortezza and down to Verona. You can also leave Cortina or Dobbiaco later, arriving Venice at 23:48

Plan B: take a 2 train connection via Bassano del Grappa to Trento, depart Venice SL 7:56, arrive Trento at 11:28. Walk about 10 minutes to the aerial tramway up the side of the mountain to the west with nice views of the Adige Valley and distant Dolomite peaks. Frequent regional trains back to Venice SL via Verona.

All of these use unreserved, inexpensive Regionale trains and buses.

Maybe rent a car and drive yourself? Head north through the Asiago region then over to Trento, then down to either Verona or Vincenza and then back to Venice. Google says this route is about a 6 hour drive.
