Hi Dear fellow travelers,
In September, I'll be spending a week in Verona attending a language school and I'm looking for a day tour to Venice from Verona. By any chance can any of you recommend me a tour company that offers that type of day tour trips from Verona to Venice?
Thanks
Do you really want a tour? Nothing is simpler than taking a train. The »Regionale veloce« brings you there in 1,5 hrs (the expensive high speed »Frecce« is hardly quicker) and a return ticket costs you some EUR 17.
I agree...no need for a tour of Venice...the charm is in just walking around this amazing city. If you want to tour the Doge's Palace, just buy a ticket in advance and spend some time in there. Are your dates set for just exactly one week in Verona and nothing else? Because even better than a day trip to Venice is spending a couple of nights there - it's my favorite city anywhere (so far:) )
Thanks for your replies, my idea is just to spend one day in Venice therefore I was thinking that taking a day tour will be the most useful way to spend the day over there.
Tours go for the middle of the road. Too long with things which don't interest you, and too short with things which really fancy you. And they tend to have very long lunches.
Have an early start, get the 7.21 Regionale veloce from the Porta Nuova station, and your day in Venice starts at 8.48.
Don't waste your time on a tour. The "BIG" tourist things to do are in St. Mark's Square (Doge's Palace, Basilica, Campanile) - all very easy to do yourself. Just being in the square and looking around is indeed a sight. Just walk through Venice and at the end of the day go back to the train station St. Lucia and board a train back to Verona.
Thanks everybody for your replies. I will follow your advice. :)
