We are taking a Royal Carribean cruise out of Venice. What's the best (most convenient and least expensive) way to get from Piazzale Roma to Stazione Marittima with the least amount of wear and tear as we will be lugging more luggage that Rick normally recommends.
They're pretty close together, you could probably walk it easily. If not, take a vaporetto. Water taxi would be easiest but they're unbelievably expensive.
The people mover will take you at least half the way for just 1 euro but you have to lug your luggage. As long as it has wheels you should be fine.
You can do it if you try. When we go on cruises we add one rolling carryon size bag in addition to our regular backpack style of carry on bags -- three bags total.
The Piazza Roma is the central area for all the buses. The cruise companies pick up from here and take you to the cruise ship terminal about 7 minutes away. You can get a taxi or ask your travel agent to book the transfers for you. There is also the water taxi but it is expensive and it will drop you next to the terminal you will have to deal with all you're luggage then.
The bus from the airport drops you off at the Piazza Roma if you are coming from there.
