Venice Connect Travel Card & getting to airport

Trying to figure out whether the 72 hour Tourist travel card ACTV+ Airport transfer bus one way from the Venice Connect is going to be worth it. We arrive in Venice by train around noon on May 9 (Wed.) and will leave Venice via airport for the States at 7 am. Staying in B&B. 1) what time should we be @ airport? What is best way @ that hour? How long will it take? 2) The B&B people say we should get to the airport by "you will have a public boat from Ca D'Oro stop ( 50 meters from Al Palazzetto ). Getting off at Piazzzale Roma and than a public bus from Piazzale Roma to the airport" Would this bus by part of the Venice Connect pass?

Thomas, you don't indicate on which date you will depart - only the time. To answer one of your questions, the hourly tourist cards are not good on the No 5 bus to and from the airport from the Piazzale Roma. See the following statement from the website. "The basic Tourist Travel card does not include trips on the number 5 Aerobus bus line, coming from and going to Venice Marco Polo airport". For a 7am flight you have a few challenges. First, there are two different bus services from the Piazzale Roma. 1) ACTV (www.actv.it). It's the No. 5 bus. 2) ATVO (www.atvo.it). Fares will not exceed 5E. The bus trip takes about 25 minutes. The first ACTV bus departs at 4.40am. If on Sundays, it's 5:40. The first ATVO bus departs at 5:00. Both second buses depart at 5:40am. I suggest that you be on either of the first buses. Now the issues. Only the No 1 and N (Night) vaporettos stop at the Ca d'Oro stop. And, the first No. 1 doesn't get there until 5:41. It's a 13-minute journey to the Piazzale Roma. That means that you must take the N vaporetto or a water taxi (explained below). The last two N vaporettos stop at the Ca' d'Oro stop at 3.39 and 4:48. That's cutting it close on the last one as you miss ACTV bus and you barely make the ATVO bus. The final alternative is the water taxi. Fare is 90E-115E for up to 8 people with luggage. The fare can be split if you are lucky enough to have other passengers on board. You hotel can easily arrange an early pickup whenever you choose. It's a private taxi that goes directly to the airport. Many, many early fliers find that they need to take the water taxi. Aside from the high fare, most rave about how much they enjoyed the ride. I don't think I answered your 72-hr question.

We are leaving on Saturday the 12th @ 7 am I guess the question is whether getting the 72 hour card for just for the ACTV is worth spending 31.35 euros. We are going to go out the the other islands at least one day. Will we take 6 ACTV trips in the two & a half days of being a tourist?

I think the usefulness of the VC card is largely justified by convenience. You may save a few dollars, or you may not. But having it handy is going to save you time. By having the card you don't have to even think about getting on a vaporetto. If you are paying €6.50 per trip, you think about it! Since you are going to the outer islands I'd say it's worth it for that day alone. You can hop off at Murano, then back on in a couple hours to go to Burano, and then to Torcello. That could cost you €19.50 one way with the 3 stops.

Depending on where your B&B is located, and how much luggage you have, walking to Piazzale Roma may be an option. If there is fog in the wee hours of the morning, the Vaporetto might not be running on schedule. For a 7am flight, I would seriously recommend to use a water taxi. It is expensive, but a spectacular way to end your vacation!
