We'll be in Venice just before Xmas and right after New Years. Al Covo is closed all 5 nights we're there. I'm looking for other great restaurants, and also somewhere to have a glass of wine or meal that will be beautifully decorated for Christmas, like a special hotel or such. Ideas?

Don't know what their holiday schedule is like, but you can go to their website or send an email to see if they will be open. Trattoria Da Marco Valla Fava on Calle Stagneri, which is in the Rialto Bridge area, has been around for decades. Some of the best seafood ever. Perhaps a bit pricy at dinner, so we usually make it a point to have lunch there.

We had a terrific dinner at the Osteria Anice Stellato

canalside in the Cannaregio district just two weeks ago. The service and food were excellent and they had an extensive wine list. It’s easy to get to via a vaporetto.
It’s a good option for a special night out in Venice.
