Venice

Has anyone stayed at Rio Alto? It seems nice and quiet, but cannot confirm NO Smoking and I have asthma. And although Pensione Guerratto is recommended, we will be on the first floor and are concerned about noise. Any thoughts?

Pension Guerratto is a great place. We were on the second floor and had no problem with noise. The market is near by and watching it set up early each morning was very interesting.

I stayed at the Centro Culturale Don Orione Artigianelli recently - clean, roomy and great service! One does not need to be religious to stay there. Also their restaurant provided one of the best meals we had in Venice.

Karen - Remember that in Italy the first floor is the same as the second floor in the US. Over there it is Ground, then first, then second, etc

thanks, everyone. I heard back from Roberto today and went with my gut! We have the double room on the 1st floor, which you mentioned, is actually the 2nd. I can't wait...so, grazie!

Good for you! Here's a picture of Roberto, in case you're curious. We loved it there so much we've stayed there twice. Tell Roberto that Michael and John say "Ciao!" :-) And be sure to ask for their recommendations for places to eat. They steered us to some really good restaurants. Happy travels.
