Venice Card for Afternoon

Has any one taken advantgage of the San Marco museum pass for the afternoon. Venice connect shows it for hours 3 - 6 pm for 12 Euros -- would this be enough time? Do you know if it can only be purchased in advance? Or is same day purchase possible?

Not sure which museum you get into. We did the doge's palace secret itineraries tour and that was very insightful into how the venician government worked for hundreds of years, and showed some nice rooms not in the normal tour.
