Will be visiting Italy in May and was wondering if the Venice Card is a good idea. Does anyone know if you can start using the card for transport from the airport to Piazza Roma via the ATV buses? Is there a limit on how often we may use the card for public transport via waterbus etc. I was planning on ordering the 48 hr.card online before we go but am unsure if it's worth it. Thank you!

There is not a limit on the number of usages. The card workswith the orange ACTV buses from the airport but not the blue ATVO buses. THey both go to the same place but the ATVO bus is an express the ACTV is a local and takes about 10-15 minutes longer.
If you are going to lot of museums or churches the orange pass may make some sense. a 48 hour vaporetto pass is 26 euros. An orange venice card costs 54 euros for the same time frame but gets you free entrance to several things. Check your wish list of sites and the VEnice card website and see if it saves you money.

Thanks for your help! We'll skip the Venice card and simply get a vaporetto pass when we arrive.
