I will be in Venice early Sept and then want to travel by car towards Milan. I was going to rent at the Airport but I have heard of easier places and closer.Train station was mentioned some time back??

There are several agencies that have offices around Piazzale Roma in Venice proper.

Thanks Tim, but we are driving to the Dolomites and then to the lakes and then flying out of Milan.I was just looking for an easy pick up for the car besides the airport.

It is very easy to drive out of Venice. There's only one road, you cross the bridge over the Lagoon and then you're on the Autostrada to anywhere you want to go. Don't worry about the airport. Pick up at the Piazzale Roma.
