Venice car hire

Hi, I need to collect a car from Venice Marco Polo Airport, to drive up to the Dolomites.

The prices vary hugely from Smilerent, Maggiore, Firefly, up to Sixt & Hertz.

I'm guessing there is a good reason for this, but would welcome reviews. Is it possible to get a good vehicle & service at
a reasonable price?

Thanks, Lilly

I generally use the consolidators below:
www.kemwel.com
www.autoeurope.com
They are part of the same corporate group after a merger years ago, however they retained the two brands separate. Since prices may vary between the two, check both.
For Italy they have arrangements primarily with Avis-Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore, however their prices are better than going directly through those rental companies, especially when you purchase full no insurance excess (no deductible coverage) as I always do in Italy.
Prices tend to jump up if you pick up between July 1 through August, but for a small economy car you should be able to rent one for under €150/wk all inclusive (maybe 20% more after July 1).
Also try the different city locations at Piazzale Roma. Each location corresponds to a different rental company so you have to try all to find out which is which. I tested one week in June and the cheapest for economy is with Europcar (they are often the cheapest option).
