WE are traveling from Rome to Venice on Trenitalia. Is it best to take an overnight trip on the train? Also, we want to see Murano while in Venice. We are traveling with a senior in a wheelchair. Any suggestions? How many nights should we plan to stay? We are traveling back to Rome afterwards via Florence.
when visiting Murano, try to go in the morning as the furnaces shut down around lunch. Showrooms and shops are open but the blowing demos will not be available.
The actual vaporetto stops are fairly wheelchair friendly. Many of the floating docks have ramped access and the actual transition from the dock to the vaporetto deck is level with just a slight bump where the two meet.
There are however a lot of bridges in Venice. SOme have lots of steps but most have 3 or 4 to get to the level surface of the bridge.
