Looking for a nice clean but inexpensive place in Venice. Early June for only 2-3 nts. We are a family of four & our kids are 11 & 12. We don't need or want luxury but we do want clean, safe, comfortable in good quiet location with a private bath, at a reasonable price. Several car wrecks later a comfy bed is a must! Any suggestions from you all out there?
Margaret, continue reading the responses from your inquiry up through 1/10/08. Several suggestions have been posted. www.Tiscalinet.it/pensioneguerrato and www.cross-pollinate. I just looked up the pensioneguerrato. I'd like to stay here if I ever get back to Venice. Venice is so lovely. Look for the early morning markets.
You could check venere.com for listings.
Margaret,we had the same goals for our family of 4 staying in Venice.I originally wanted to stay at The Foresteria Valdese(www.foresteriavenezia.it)which offers private family rooms with bath for 4,with breakfast, for 114 Euros per night. They were closed on New Year's Day,so we stayed at our 2nd choice,Corte Compana (www.cortecompana.com)where we paid about 150EUR per night with breakfast. We were very happy with Riccardo, the friendly man who runs the place, and thought the quad room with bath was very large and comfortable. Also, the living room area was a nice place to relax and visit, with free computer access. We all thought the beds were comfortable. The location in the St.Marks area was perfect. Both these places are listed in Ricks book.
Margaret,
I recently went through the process of finding a place for my family of 5 in March. We ended up booking the Alloggi Barbaria (http://www.alloggibarbaria.it/gbindex.shtml)
Haven't stayed there yet. Chosen based on reviews, price, and access from train station by vaporeto. It's on the east side of the island, so a bit further from St. Mark's and the Grand Canal.
