Venice-Bologna Train

Looking to travel on 30 November (Saturday) from Venice to Bologna and I realize that there's no fast train on Trenitalia and only 1 fast train on Italo. Same thing on 1 December (Sunday). I have been checking almost daily for the past month.

Called Trenitalia and was told to wait for winter schedule to be loaded. Thing is, if winter schedule has yet to be loaded, then why can I find train schedules on days on 29 November and earlier, as well as on 2 December and later. Trenitalia's Customer service agent wasn't helpful and kept repeating that I should wait for winter schedule to be loaded.

Any idea on what's going on? Track maintenance? Or is there some website someone can point me to where I can find info on track closures, etc.

Track maintenance probably. So schedule is not finalized yet.
Check again early November.

It looks like the issue is at Bologna Centrale station. A weekend construction project seems to be planned.

If you look at Freccia trains from Venice to Florence, you will notice that they skip Bologna, going nonstop from Ferrara to Florence.

There appear to be lots of regional trains to Bologna, but they all terminate at Bologna Arcoveggio, outside of the city center, then a bus to central Bologna. Bologna Arcoveggio station is less than 1 km from Bologna Centrale. So if you are staying at a Bologna hotel and taking a taxi, it is really only a minor inconvenience.

Bologna Arcoveggio is a freight station; trains may access it only from the "belt" railway around Bologna and not from Bologna Centrale (there was once a link to Centrale, but it was dismantled). Arcoveggio is not used by passenger trains, but in the rare moments when it is necessary to close Bologna Centrale for works. Arcoveggio is only a few minutes walking from a Centrale exit on the side opposing the main building.
