we will be in Venice in September. One of the people has very limited walking capabilities. Any recommendations for a bed and breakfast near a Vaporetto stop would be appreciated. We would prefer a private accommodation if possible.
Are they OK with stairs? Maybe not if they have limited walking. But, just in case, we stayed at Al Campaniel three times in Venice. It is only about 90 sec from the San Toma vaporetto stop. (Up a short alley and around the corner). It's few stops away from Rialto. But the room would be up either one or two flights of stairs (the breakfast room is up two flights). If you are looking for this Sept, your choices are probably going to be fairly limited at this date...
Try contacting Campiello Zen. We are staying there for a few nights before our Rick Steves Tour in Oct. They are near a Vaporetto Stop. They've been very helpful with emails, restaurants, etc. I know one of their rooms is upstairs-but they also have one on the ground floor you could request (no stairs). I think the breakfast is served upstairs though - although I'm sure you could bring it down to your room.
They have photos and great reviews on TripAdvisor.
In that same situation, my parents and I enjoyed staying at Casa Rezzonico and requesting a ground floor room (not first floor). However, it only has 7 rooms, is popular, and in Rick's book. Breakfast is served on the ground floor, usually in the walled garden.
