So I've narrowed my search down to two B&Bs
B&B Venezia and Ai Tagliapietra B&B. I've read Tripadvisor reviews and I am completely on the fence. I like that Ai Tagliapietra is near San Marco but am concerned it might be in the midst of the hustle and bustle. B&B Venezia is a bit cheaper (about 10e less a night) but out by St Elena. Do you think thats too far out? For those of you who are familiar with Venezia, any thoughts on their attic room - its the only one available? Thanks!
both seem nice. Ai Tagliapietra B&B is located far enough away from Piazza San Marco to be out of the craziness. We stayed in an apartment in between the B&B and Campo Santa Maria Formosa a while back and really enjoyed the area.
B&B Venezia is located in a park like setting in St Elena. But it is a bit removed from the major sites. Probably a 20 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. After a couple of times walking you'd probably want to take the vaporetto back.
Hi Jessica - The best B&B I am familiar with , located right by Rialto is -

Reasonable, great location, nice people!!!

Jessica,
I really like the Hotel Al Codega located in a courtyard between St.Marks and Rialto. It's right near everything, yet being in a courtyard gets you out of the hustle and bustle in a second.
Breakfast was great and the people couln't be nicer.
I have not stayed at either B&B so I cannot give any first hand reports. However, if it were me, I would pay a little more and stay a little closer in. We stayed even closer in and did not really feel like we were in an area of "hustle and bustle", but it was so nice to have everything within easy walking distance. (and worth 10 euors more a night) Venice is interesting in that most of the hustle, etc is between St. Marks, the Rialto and the Academia Bridge. We stayed right in the heart of the area, but it was still quiet in the little square that our B&B was in. My sister stayed in the area where Ai Tagiapietra is and loved it. I actually think it looks like that one is in a great area.
Check out Al Teatro B&B (http://www.bedandbreakfastalteatro.com). We've stayed there twice and loved the location, great breakfasts, gondolas passing right beneath our windows, etc.). Eleanora speaks very good English and will have excellent restaurant recommendations for you. Ask for the Amber Room, our personal favorite...it has a balcony over one of the back canals.
Roy - we have the Amber room booked in April. We can hardly wait. It's our first trip to Venice.
