Is it best to Buy tickets for places like St Marks Bascilica, the Doge's Palace and other places, online before I leave for my trip or buy them in Venice ....and where?
Its always best to buy in advance if you know exactly when you want to visit- you will avoid waiting in line for tickets while there. Everybody must wait in security lines.
St Mark's Basilica is free but you can book a skip the line/timed entry for 3€ here:
https://basilicasanmarco.insidecom.it/en/attractions-in-veneto/tickets/skip-the-line-saint-marks-basilica/#choose
Doges Palace tickets here:
https://palazzoducale.visitmuve.it/en/pianifica-la-tua-visita/tickets/
I highly recommend the Secret Itinerary Tour of Doges- after the tour you have access to the Palace and can stay as long as you like:
https://palazzoducale.visitmuve.it/en/pianifica-la-tua-visita/special-itineraries/secret-itineraries-tour/
If you don't already have it- do get Rick Steves Italy guidebook. He covers how/when to get tickets for all the sights.
Thank you for your info.
How many hours is the Doge's Secret Itin Tour?
Wanting to plan the day but wasnt able to see the lenght of time for the tour.
Looking to book the 9:55 am tour in September.
Secret Itinerary tour runs about 1hr 15 minutes, but you will want to allow plenty of time after the tour to visit the main rooms of the palace that are not covered in the tour. You’ll need at least 30-45 minutes extra for a very fast run-through, and longer if you really want to see the rooms in detail. They are quite amazing.
