Planning on seeing St.Mark's Basilica and the Doge Palace. Can anyone tell me how much time would be needed to see everything ?

Depends on the line at San Marco, I think you need a ticket for the Doges' Palace. An hour for San Marco and maybe two for the Palace, if you aren't lingering at every beautiful thing.

I used the link in the RS book and reserved an entrance time into St. Mark's for about 3 euro -- the first available slot and I'd arrive early since it's the same line as the tour groups (we were first, thankfully). We were only in there for about 15 min., but I guess it depends on what you like to look at and for how long. For Doge's Palace, about 90 min. would probably suffice, but again, bearing in mind that we don't linger too much in any one area.
