I'm flying into Venice in late September, arriving around 6 pm. I'm thinking of going to Padua for the first night instead of an airport hotel (and seeing Padua the next day before heading to Venice). How difficult would it be to get from the Venice airport to Padua in the evening (and jet lagged)? Thanks
It isn't hard. There is a bus that runs from right outside the terminal to Padova. Buy a ticket in the terminal and grab the next bus (I think it leaves from position 1, every 30 mins). It deposits you at the Padova train station. From there you can catch a cab or jump on the tram to your hotel.
Yes, you can do it, as laid out above, but I'm wondering why you don't want to just go on in to Venice proper. It's a wonderful place to get over jet lag and especially magical in the evening. What's your destination after Venice? Perhaps you could do a daytrip in Padova on your way there? It easily lends itself to a daytrip. (That's what we did last month, on our way from Verona into Venice.)
