Venice arrival

I am arriving in Venice at approximately 1230 PM (afternoon) are the aliguna boats easy to use? Do the pilot and/or staff of the boats speak English. Need to get off at San Marco dock

The Alilaguna is very easy. You need to buy a ticket at the hut and not onboard. I had no need to speak with the guys working the boat so have no idea if they speak English. If you're worried about where to get off, don't be. You can't miss San Marco, and you could also count the stops to double check yourself. Its a short walk from the airport down to the water and Alilaguna. We only had carry-on baggage and are pretty sure we were well on our way to Venice before the rest of the people on our plane even left the luggage carousel!

The pilot doesn't need to speak English. He's driving the boat. No worries, Alilaguna has been hauling untold hoards of English speaking tourists to Venice for decades. It ain't their first rodeo. They'll announce the stop when they get to San Marco. And yes, English is the common second language for people who have dealings with tourists. That's how they communicate with all the Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and yes even English tourists.
