We plan to take the ACTV bus no. 5 from the airport to Piazzale Rome and catch a vaporetto. We will be purchasing the 72 hr vaporetto pass that does include the ACTV bus. My question: Can this 72 hr pass be purchased at the airport so we can indeed us it for the bus transportation?
I believe you can purchase your tickets beforehand and then proceed to the Venice Connected booth at the airport.
In 2011 we bought our passes online at veniceconnected.com and picked them up at the airport so we were able to use them for the bus right away. Their website describes how to find them at the airport and if you have any problem the airport employees can help you. It's a great deal!
Thank you. I suppose that if you purchase online, that you print a voucher of some sort? I will check it out.
I arrived in Venice at the train station and bought the. App retro pass there - perhaps there's a kiosk at the airport.
Just make sure that you buy the pass with the airport transfer included one way or both ways. Otherwise, it's 6 eauro each way for the bus.
Yes, there is a ticket office at the airport where you can get the combo bus / vap pass. HOWEVER, from time to time their credit card readers have problems. You can plan to pay in cash, or if you buy online you will get a voucher that can be exchanged for the pass at the airport. Be sure to validate the pass as soon as you get on the bus. You might want to check out veniceforvisitors.com. Lots of good info

Purchase the VeniceConnect online and you'll get a voucher number you can enter into either the ACTV or VeniceConnect machines. You'll see an ACTV automatic machine outside the Arrivals hall, at the left side of the bus concourse (the second driveway outside the exit). Collect your ticket and you're good.
