I am looking to rent an apartment -- air b and b or VRBO and I am wondering if anyone has used the company Truly Venice or any company like this. Many thanks for any advice!
We rented an apartment from Hotel Da Bruno and it was great. They have several apartments that are listed on Airbnb, but it’s less expensive to rent through the hotel due to fees.
I haven't used that company, but we stayed in a suite a year and a half ago that we loved.

We had the Valentine Suite, which was a little larger than we needed, but it had a balcony overlooking the canal, which we loved. The location was very close to the canal and an easy walk to St. Mark's, but it was on a quiet "side" canal, so it was restful and peaceful.
We have used two companies for Venice apartments, both multiple times: Views on Venice and Venice Red House. Both with excellent results. Venice Red Zhousevis owned and run bybVenetions. I am not sure about Views on Venice but they do have an office in Dorsoduro and we’re very responsive to our questions. I would rent from either of them again and recommend them to others.
Truly Zvenice is Swiss-owned and the one time I looked into rentals with them I did not care for their policy of charging extra for heat used beyond a set minimum. Not that we would extra heating in October, but it just felt strange. But maybe that policy has changed.
The advantage of renting from an agency like these is you get lots of support, such as a meet and greet and walk to your apartment With the agent. You do not have to find it on your own and hope the key code or whatever method of entry actually works. When we were in Venice last March I lost count of the number of people we saw wandering around staring at their phones, trying to find their VRBO or Air BnB apartment. Sometimes we could help but other times we could not, because the direction ps were so bad.
Remember to ask specifically how many steps from street to appartment. Last time we were in Venice, we had 64 step. No problem the first time, but it got progressively heavier each time.
If there is an elevator it might not start on street level. In London last week, we had 19 steps from street to start of elevator. And then 17 steps frem end of elevator to appartment.
Going down is just as heavy as going up, just in another way. Going up is hard on the muscles, going down is hard on the joints.
