We will be in Venice from November 1 - November 5 . We would like to stay where we can experience the ambience of Venice, canals, walk around day and night. Suggestions for neighborhoods to stay in to have a true Venetian experience. 3 adults 50 + years.

Check cross-pollinate.com or cabadoer-veniceflat.it or Levantina, I found on booking.com, it’s a ground floor apt with terrace. In the canareggio area which was great. The flat was s you n San Polo area that we stayed a few years back, loved that area also. You do need to push your luggage over a bridge and thru some alleyways. Good luck, please let us know you found something.

Hi Millie,

My family and friends (5 of us) stay at Michel in the Canneregio in Venice. It is a lovely historical appartment, recently renovated with a private courtyard about 10 minutes from the Rialto. It is in a quiet square with a small grocery store, cafe, pharmacy around the corner. The most noise we had was the kids going to school. We rented through Truly Venice and everything was perfect. Here is the link if you are interested. If I was traveling with friends and needed a three bedroom, I would rent from them again. https://www.trulyveniceapartments.com/apartments/michiel

Anywhere on the island is likely to be good. You will experience the ambiance everywhere, as long as you don't spend too much of your time at the highly tourist areas - train station, Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Just walk 3-4 minutes away from them and it's lovely. My favorite area is the Dorsoduro, closer to the Accademia than the Rialto.

We stayed here in 2015, and would have done again last year, but it was booked up.
Michel, the host , is really committed to keeping the flat spotless and functional.
It's on the Canareggio Canal, so right in a quieter end of town, but near the railway station too.
We loved it.
It has a double bed in one bedroom, and bunk beds plus another single in the other bedroom.
Two big sofas in the LR; so lots of room to spread out.
The balcony is great too, and it's very quiet facing into the back.
You have to climb one flight of stairs up, no elevator.
My review of it is under the name SJ Canada.
Good luck!
