Venice Apartment Hotel Rentals

I am going back to Venice for the fourth time and I am taking my sister for her first trip ever out of the country! I am so excited to show Italy to her. We will be starting in Venice and in the past I have stayed at the Hilton Mulino Stuckey and Hotel Danieli. I am looking for a larger room so that we have a little space, but I am aware how small rooms are in Italy hotels. This has led me to many apartment options on some of the hotel websites. I generally don’t like staying in Airbnb’s because I have had a couple of bad experiences with places not being as advertised, safety of not having the only key to the place, etc.

So after pouring through trip advisor, booking.com, this travel forum (I have read every entry on Venice hotels) and every other source I can think of- I wanted to see if any of you have stayed in apartment options that are run by the hotels? Sometimes they are listed as an annex building as well. I am trying to stay under $400 per night. The most important factors are a comfortable bed, safety, a view of a canal or the city, somewhere fairly convenient but not right in the middle of the tourist center.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences.

I see some very nice apartment options on booking.com that are well within your proposed budget. Might give them a look to see if one of them will answer. Many offer free cancellation which is handy during these uncertain times.

Hi April, I haven’t stayed in an apartment in Venice yet. That said if I was looking now I would check Red House site. I have read excellent reviews here and I recall one of our regular contributors stayed there for several weeks and was very pleased. Hope this helps.

hey hey april
don't know your dates and how many days you plan to stay in venice. i'd say at least 3 nights/4 days.
first time we stayed at:
cabadoer-veniceflat.it
they have a few to look at, maybe the attic or the apartment (2bedroom). there is a small elevator (lift), luggage storage, couple are really sweet, not far from san toma stop, behind frari church. we loved it. email them is best
second time we stayed at:
la levantina near san marcuola stop/casino/train station.
2 bedroom on a canal, ground floor, terrace out front, private entry.
we loved this place also. they are on booking.com and any question you can ask on the site, scroll down.
some may say no availability or calendar not up yet (too early). ask early, now and reserve.
hope this helps
aloha

Thank you everyone so much for the responses. I have narrowed it down to these two locations.

I like the location of the first ones more, but I was hoping for a canal view. We can get that on the second ones, but it is a bit further from everything in the Castello neighborhood. I don’t think that we will go wrong with either pick, especially for these prices! I appreciate that these are operated by hotels. As I noted in my original post, I have had a couple of souring experiences with independently owned places through Airbnb, so this provides a little more security for me I guess.

What a wonderful city to start a first time visit for your sister.
In a similar location to San Teodoro... - but not as fancy or pricy - we stayed at Testa d'Oro ( in Spring 2019 - found on booking dot com) for @ US $250/night . Has 2 bedrooms, very nice "lounge" area, kitchen, bath & also washer/dryer combo. It is on the 2nd floor (3rd to us US folk). Host met us at the vaporetto stop, helped with luggage and was available for several calls - never felt unsafe. I especially enjoyed viewing out the window and watching the masses climb the steps to the Rialto Bridge. We were above most of the street noise and entered the "city" from a side street - so were out of the crowds to begin & end each walk.

There is easy access to all the sights from this area.

You will certainly have a great time in Venice - where ever you choose to stay.
