Venice Anniversary Dinner Recommendations

I wanted to inquire with all of you about Venice restaurant recommendations for this July. Also, would reservations be recommended or should we just wait until we get there? I have noticed that many restaurants seem to only take reservations during limited hours by phone (not many seem to do them online). I look forward to your suggestions! Thank You! Ciao!

I would make reservations for July for sure, and I would request your hotel to assist you.

We had a magical special occasion dinner several years ago at Trattoria al Gatto Nero on the island of Burano in Venice. We took the vaporetto from Fondamente Nove to the island in plenty of time to stroll the pretty little island, then sat outside by the canal at dusk and had wonderfully fresh local fish and vegetables. You should review their website and menu in advance to ensure this is to your taste, schedule and budget. You can email for reservations. Also, bring bug spray just in case. And yes, we saw the black cat in a nearby doorway.

Since this is an anniversary dinner, google a place named Trattoria Da Marco Valla Fava on Calle Stagneri in the Rialto Bridge area. Most of the seating is inside (which we prefer), but they do have some seating outside. It's one of our favorites. Probably best to get reservations. They have some of the best sea food ever and have been around at least 50 years so they must be doing it right. And then follow it up with a sit down cocktail at one of the places on St Marks Sq. that has live music. And maybe a dance or two. A bit expensive, but it's a special night and well worth it.
