We are flying into Venice and then catching train @ Mestre station. What's the best way to make that connection? Is there a shuttle?
Many thanks! Marti
We were in Venice 4 nights in May. That was our last stop so we flew from Venice to Rome. There's a water taxi to and from the airportAlilaguna I believe15 euros at the time. We had an early flight and were able to catch one at 5:30 am. May want to look into that.
What is your destination from Mestre station? It's kind of hard to believe you're landing in Venice airport and not staying in Venice to visit. If Venice is your actual destination then you don't want to go to the Mestre Station. Water Taxi is a private speed boat. Alilaguna is a private water bus.
Vaporetto is the public water bus.
Marti - you basically have three options from Marco Polo to the train station in Mestre. you can take the orange ACTV public bus. I believe it is line 15. you can take the blue ATVO fly bus which is a private express shuttle. Both should take about 30 minutes and you catch both at the front of the terminal. the public bus will be a bit longer with more stops as the ATVO is an express. Both are probably in the 5 euro range. both have frequent runs to the station. You could also take a land taxi. Sorry don't know the price.
There's a bus from Marco Polo Airport right to Venice Mestre station. Here's the link to the timetable PDF. It shows the price as 6 euros, baggage included. You can also take a land taxi, or a local bus that makes stops (the one I linked above is nonstop). Here's the Venice Airport website; near the top on the left, click "transports" to see your options.
I see I was cross-posting with Ron.
