Venice and Florence Self Day trips

I only included places with train times of 1.5 hours or less. Siena by bus, which goes to the center of town. Parma and Modena for foodies is an understatement—former with La Forchetta [signature dish the “Duchessa di Parma]; Modena with Da Danilo, our favorite restaurant in Italy. Padova has the Prato della Valle, the largest square in Italy, one of the largest in Europe.

Here is the site for self-guided walks:

Trieste. Underrated and not clogged with tourists.

I have deleted my previous post. I was not clear to me that OP was promoting their own list of side trips on another forum and not asking for advice about potential side trips.

Venezia S Lucia to Mantova takes 3 hours; not a day trip. Also Trieste [great town] is 2 hours.

I visit this forum occasionally, and am impressed to see so many knowledgable and helpful folks.

Apologies to the OP for my very clunky edits in this thread. It's the only way I can keep the discussion topic alive while adhering to our expectations. I'd usually moderate this privately, but I'm doing this one publicly so that others can understand what I've done and why this got clunky, so that hopefully the discussion can carry on.

Please take note, this forum strongly prefers avoiding the use of tiny URLs. Use the full URL so that forum members here can see where they are going for safety.

Also, in the same vein that we don't permit people to post links to their own blogs or their social accounts, please do not post links to your content on other forums. If you want your content to be discussed here in this forum, please put what you want discussed in this forum. This is to avoid fracturing discussions here and to steer clear of any possible ulterior motives.

I moved one of the OP's posts to the top so that the OP's writing (and not mine) could still provide the subject matter of the thread. The OP is welcome to edit his/her initial post to provide the list s/he wants to share for discussion here.

Thanks to everyone for your understanding. Back to self day trips in Venice and Florence...
