My husband and I have finally decided on those three places. I cant see us doing more than a half day of the main tourist highlights in venice and rome. Any thoughts on an itinerary? We can fly into Venice or Rome.

Perhaps you don't mean you're thinking of only giving Rome part of a day and Venice part of a day?If you could clarify that, it would help us advise you.It would be difficult to even list things to be done in Rome if you only gave it half a day.If it helps as a benchmark for you to compare your trip to those of others--if you give Rome only half a day, you're giving Rome less time than about 95% or 98% of travelers reporting on this forum. Same for Venice, the average time given Venice, by travelers here, is about 2 nights.It's your trip, not ours.
