Venice Airport to Florence

Hello,

My mother and I will be flying into Venice from the US but then leaving Venice immediately for Florence (don't worry - we are staying 3 nights in Venice at the end of our trip). Could anyone offer advice about the best way to get from the Venice airport to Florence?

Thank you,
Amber

Check the airport's website, but I'm pretty sure there's a bus to the Mestre Station. Or take a taxi (comparatively expensive) Then take the train to Florence.

Land bus or land cab to Venezia Mestre station. Then an high speed train to Firenze SM Novella, both trenitalia and ntv-italotreno run trains on that route. Look at the Departures black electronic board and buy a ticket for the first train departing.

Don't worry about getting one of these fast trains, all with a name starting with »Frecce«. They go every hour.
For you orientation: Mestre is Venice's mainland neighbour. All trains going to - or leaving - Venice pass by.

Amber, my wife and I are doing the same thing later this year. We plan to take the bus from Marco Polo Airport to the train station at Venice Mestre, then get on the fast train to Florence. The train takes 1 hour, 53 minutes.

Take the ATVO express bus from Marco Polo Airport to Venice Mestre train station: http://www.atvo.it/allegati/aeroporti/linea_35b_dal_29.10.2017_al_24.03.2018.pdf
I took it in the reverse direction (to the airport) last summer. It was quick (15-20 minutes), cheap (8 euro), and easy. From Venice Mestre station, you can get a fast train to Florence.

Quick comment: You may already know this, but if your departure flight from Venice leaves early in the morning, your transportation options from the city to the airport may be limited. People often start their trips in Venice instead of ending there for that reason.

Since I am sure the OP is locked into airline tickets, this is for the other readers. This could be a classic example where an open jaw/ multi-city ticket would save time and money. Flying into Venice and home from Florence.
