Venice Airport? Leaving your bags?

Last year we left about five bags at the luggage check at the airport so we wouldn't have to take them on the vaporetta. Worked like a champ...came back the next day, gave them our receipt, and off we went to our flight. The whole thing took maybe 3-5 minutes for both drop-off and pick-up. I think the cost was about 4 euros per bag. The bags are taken into a back room, so they appeared to be totally safe. Just check the hours of operation.
