Venice airport

My family will be leaving Venice on a 6:30 a.m. flight. Does anyone have experience or a recommendation for a hotel close to the Venice airport? Any suggestions or information about transportation to the airport or hotels near the airport would be greatly appreciated as we have no experience with Venice airport and are arriving in Italy through a different city. Just trying to eliminate worry about making a flight and would prefer to be very close to airport.
Thank you!

there are some hotels close to Marco Polo. We have stayed at the Titian Inn. In reality, there really isn't much going on at Marco Polo prior to 05:00 or 05:30. Get there much earlier than that and you will probably have to wait for airport personnel to arrive to check you in. It is not very difficult to get to the airport from the mainpart of Venice early by using public transport. The Alilaguna shuttle boat will get you there by about 05:00 leaving San MArco about 03:40 http://www.alilaguna.it/en/linea-blu/summer-timetable The bus from Pizzale Roma starts at 05:00 and gets you there around 05:30

There's a Courtyard at the Marriot right outside the entrance to the airport. They provide shuttle service to the airport.

Ron, Does it really take an hour and a half to get to the airport using the boat? we took the water taxi over to start the trip and was thinking of the cheaper alternative but time is a constraint.

The link to Alilaguna Linea Blu timetable is posted above. That is the earliest departure line. Leaving from the San Marco stop which is by the Valoresso vaporetto stop, it takes an hour and nineteen minutes to get to the airport docks. If you leave from the Fondamente Nove stop on the back side of Venice, it only takes 38 minutes. Linea Blu makes five stops between San Marco and the airport including one on the Lido and one at Murano. A water taxi should be able to get you to the airport from just about anywhere in Venice in about 30-35 minutes. the price will be higher of course.

The other thing about Alilaguna is that the dock is at least a ten minute walk away from the terminal. There are signs all along the way, but you're going to have to haul all your luggage or pay someone to cart it for you. The Marriott is sounding like a pretty good idea for such an early flight. Fortunately, the airport itself is pretty tiny. (FWIW, it's also very nice inside, since they did a recent upgrade.)

Thanks, everyone, for your ideas. Courtyard at Marriott is looking like a very good option. Thank you!

We just got back and had a 7 am flight. We were at a B&B in a residential district. We booked a water taxi for a 4:15 am pick up at the CA' del Oro stop. He was there a little early, the trip didn't take that long (30 min. tops) & we got to the airport by 4:50. Iberra didn't even open their booth until 5:20 am. Wife was annoyed that I got her up so early ;-)....... Maybe got ripped off on price.....when ordering taxi he wanted extra 20 euros for such early trip.

Thomas, that's a fairly standard extra charge.
