Have you stayed anywhere in Venice that you really liked?
Under 130 Euro?
We don't need fancy. What's important to us is that it's a clean place.
Depends on when you'll be going. Off-season prices are much lower.
We'll be there Oct 1 - 3
We stayed at Hotel Riva 2 weeks ago, 120 euro for double room, clean, canal view room more. The location is excellent. See tripadvisor.
Stayed 3 days at the hotel Iris. Very clean, good breakfast. Not very modern. But you clean a clean private bathroom, and a A/C.
Beat the heck out of a hostel.

A lot has been said here about Pensione Guerrato near Rialto, also recommended in Rick's book. Great location, rooms, breakfast, staff, and would easily fit your price range. Building dates from 1218.
If you do not mind a shared bathroom, the B&B San Paolo is charging about €65 per night for a double room with breakfast for two. It is a five-minute walk from the Rialto bridge and I found it to be excellent.
