Venice advice for spring 2020?

We’re going on the Heart of Italy tour this spring. We’ve planned two days in Venice on our own. Can recent Venice travelers give us any advice, including whether we should skip Venice altogether, given the chronic flooding?

Odds are that in Spring you could stay in San Marco Square, the lowest point of historical Venice, without noticing the tides.
