Hello everyone, we have a couple of European adapters for things like our phone, IPad, curling iron etc. we have used the adapters in various European countries. I just read these adapters may not work in Italy. What I read said you need a specific kind of adapter that will work in Italy. Has that been anyone’s experience, and if so would you know what would work? Thanks so much for taking your time to answer.
Always, Happy Travels
You will need one of two types for Italy. Some adaptors are not interchangeable between countries. We found on our last trip to Italy that the older style round two prong wasn’t as common as it once had been as remodels of apartments/ rooms have upgraded to a three prong outlet. Amazon is a good resource for adaptors. I believe accurate information is provided too as to which plugs work in each country.
EDIT: Type C and Type L adaptors for Italy, I think!!
This kind should work in Italy and elsewhere in continental Europe. You can find them in airports, travel stores, Amazon, and elsewhere, probably for less than $3.
Wow--- That RS store adapter had been $1.00. Inflation is nuts. Ugh
I used that type in both Greece and Italy with no problems
I've read a number of posts suggesting the Type C adapter used in Europe not working in Italy, but haven't had an issue on a number of trips and many hotels.
Your curling iron will not work with the adapter alone, unless the curling iron is dual voltage . You risk ruining your 110w curling iron in Italy.
Have a great trip!
In Italy you may find some plugs with a recess too deep to plug in your things.
If so, go to a One Euro store if you can find one, and find the little extension bit that fits.
(Can I post a photo of it on here?)
Here’s an article that might help.
