Has anyone here tried the relatively new Tappy system? Last year I bought the paper weekly pass. Just wondering if the new Tappy allows you to buy a weekly pass and store it digitally on a mobile phone?

I don't think that's possible.
What it will do, though, is automatically calculate the cheapest fare for you. So if you use it throughout a week during your stay in Venice, it will effectively cap the cost at the price of a weekly pass .. rather than charging you for every individual trip.
