Venice Access Fee for 2026 Ended?

Hi - preparing for our trip to Italy in 9 days. I was on the following website https://cda.veneziaunica.it/en/access-fee and it appears the access fee into Venice ended on July 27, 2026. I was surprised to see this. I thought I would share for those who plan to visit Venice this year.

Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, yes, for this year and the period in which the access fee is paid has ended, every year the municipality of Venice decides in which period to apply the contribution, as written on the link you posted:

THE TRIAL PERIOD OF THE ACCESS FEE FOR THE YEAR 2026 HAS ENDED. THEREFORE, AS OF 27 JULY, THE ACCESS FEE DOES NOT APPLY AND IT IS POSSIBLE TO VISIT VENICE WITHOUT ANY PAYMENT OR REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM THE FEE.

It is the responsibility of the governing bodies of the Municipality of Venice to approve any further measures regarding the possible application of the access fee in the years following 2026. For any further updates, we invite you to follow the Municipality of Venice's web communication channels and this website https://cda.ve.it/en/

The municipality of Venice will communicate via this site if and when the contribution will be reactivated for the year 2027 and subsequent years.
I'll add just one thing: the contribution applies only to people visiting Venice without staying in the city, the tourist tax applies to those who do stay there and therefore are never required to pay the entrance fee.
