Thanks to all who helped with Rome and Florence.
Now I need some suggestions on Venice lodging. Same budget of $120 USD per night. Only going 2 nights so would like to be near St. Marks
We are staying at this vacatition rental apartment in October. It is 110 euros a night (2 people). It's for the Rialto Bridge apartment. Looks great.

Google Hotel Doni, Venice Italy.
Also on Page 75, RS Italy 2004.
Reviews are good on many sites..
Jarmine my only suggestion is to make sure, wherever you stay, you have good directions to find it! We were just there last week and it is EXTREMELY confusing navigating Venice. TOTALLY worth it though-it is AMAZING!
The suggestion of Pensione Guerrato does not fit in your price range. We will be staying there next month. With a budget of $120 USD, and particularly because you want to be near St. Marks, you are going to have difficulties finding a place in that range. While researching for my own trip I discovered Venice is VERY expensive.
Of course this somewhat depends on when you are traveling. If you will be there in the low season you might have better luck.
We loved Casa Rezzonico.
I don't know when you're traveling and it is 20E above your budget, but you might be able to negotiate.
Have you checked VRBO for private apartments?
I highly recommend Al Campaniel B&B (http://alcampaniel.tripod.com/index.html). It is not adjacent to St. Mark's, but it is quieter and falls in your budget. We loved it and Marco served a nice breakfast. It is clean, reasonably modern, with a good bed, and wireless connection if you need it. You can find comments on TripAdvisor as well. It is located across from a chocolate shop. He responds very well by email and his directions to his B&B are quite good. We walked there from the train station rather than take a boat. That way, we got to see the beautiful back streets of Venice. He is very close to the San Toma Traghetto stop which takes you quickly across the Grand Canal and from there it is 10 minutes to St. Mark's or Rialto Bridge. We would definitely stay here again.
I think you will like hotel Rossi 2 blocks from Train station BUT on a dead end side street . They have a web site
Jarmine, Venice is pretty small, and getting lost and wandering all the little streets and walkways is part of its charm. I can recommend a hotel Ca' Formosa...it is a med price hotel that is easy to find once you get there the first time. ( That probably applies to most smaller, med and lower price hotels in Venice!)
jarmine, this place is very cool. and closer to things then it first seems. albergo san samuele's, a block off of campo santo stefano. around 100 euros, but the rooms are crazy, and the area feels very local. great connectivity to the square and bridge. consider it. have fun, be safe.
Thanks to everyone for there help... Our Trip is finally booked.
Rome, Florence, Venice and London....
Looking forward to it...
All of your responses were great and helpful
It IS fun to wander and get lost as long as you take a map with you. I was there last week and needed the map from time to time.
