Any suggestions for 3 nights in Venice, would like to stay on the canal but not too far from the train station.

Our go to in Venice is Hotel Ala
Not close to station but steps from vaporetto (no stairs or bridges) in a quiet campo 5-10 walk to P San Marco

Near station
Hotel Abbazia

thanks Christine. Hotel Ala looks very nice, clean. Is it on the canal or just nearby?

Small canal runs alongside the building which sits back from Grand Canal about 20 steps

Forgot to mention they have a very good bkft and a nice rooftop deck

Hotel Ala is favored by several posters here
We’ve never stayed anywhere else in Venice, no need to look elsewhere

Beverly, ask for a quiet room at the Hotel Ala. The rooms that front the piazza can be noisy with foot traffic.

hey hey beverly
when is this trip happening, budget in euros and how many people? staying on a canal can be really loud all day/all night, late night people out and working early morning bringing their goods/equipment/travelers trying to get to airport for their early early morning flights. the grand canal is their "busy" hiway for all kinds of boats. just want you to know and understand what can happen.
love venice, been 3 times and would go again.
hotel antiche figure
across train station and bridge, sit outside tables and people watch. i did that at ristorante da nino with my prosecco and favorite tiramisu down the way from here
hotel nh venezia santa lucia
outside train station and in cannaregio
abbazia de luxe
down from train station in cannaregio
ca' nigra lagoon resort
across train station bridge and canal
depending on when you go, any mobility issues do you need an elevator "lift", not many in venice and very small like rooms/showers, if summer time make sure you have A/C.
any other questions ask, what plans do you have and activities? roam thru the alleyways, dead ends, getting lost, lots of laughs, sit at cafe and have glass of wine, enjoy
aloha

Wow, lots of info, tks. Will be in Venice 9/28-10/1. Two mothers (60-ish) & 2 daughters (30) so might be some mobility issues.
