Does the 72 hour vappareto pass allow for travel to the smaller islands? particularly I want to go to Burano and am confused since some people told me the 72 hour pass takes you there free yet I see others charging for day trips to these sites. Book a tour or just go on my own with my vappareto pass? Thanks!
The vaporetto pass is good for all the islands that make up Venezia. You don't need a tour; since Burano is so close to Torcello, you could visit there as well.
They sell tours to people who don't do their homework,
You could go early in the morning, and stop at Torcello first for an hour; then on to Murano, then Burano or vice versa.
That will take all day, but each island is different.
You can go to all of them with your vaporetto pass.
Take water and a snack for Torcello, as last time I was there two years ago, there was only a very expensive hotel and a very cheap not so good outdoor café/bar, for food and drink.
Have a lovely day out from Venice!

Exactly. Just take Rick's book, and you're all set to go on your own with your vaporetto pass.
Go on your own. Read Rick's book first.
