We have family who recently moved to Vecenzia. We will be visiting them the last half of January and 1st half of February. Though we plan on seeing "the sights", we also would like to see more of the nature side of Italy. As well as spending a fair amount of time wandering the villages. Does anyone have experience going there during this time? I know we will miss Carnevale in Venice. Because we will be staying with family we are planning on making a few trips over the next couple of years at various seasons. We also have a preschooler and toddler granchildren who we would like to include as much as possible. If anyone has ideas of things to do there at this time of year with young children that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sorry, marjh, I've never heard of a Vecenzia in the Veneto.
Do you mean Vicenza, my second favourite city in Northern Italy? If so, I may be of a little help.
I've been to Cortina and other Dolomite towns in Jan/Feb, not too far north of Vicenza. Tobagganing is a nice family outdoor activity, if skiing is a nonstarter. Here is Cortina's website. It is just one of many resorts in the Dolomites.

Nothing like a passagiata down the main drag of Cortina with the kids.
Sorry about the wrong spelling. I did mean Vicenzia. I even corrected it but apparently it did not take. Thanks for the link for link for tobogganing. When we lived near the rockies we did do cross country skiing. However I have a fear of heights/falling so have not tried down hill skiing. Though I am looking forwrd to hiking in the early fall.
I'm going to assume your family is here with the Army. If so, there is a Facebook site or two that you'd probably be interested in where people in the local community provide travel advice, etc. PM me if you're interested and I'll provide the link for you.
