vatican tours

I will be visiting Rome in 2 weeks. I am looking for different Vatican tour options. Walksofitaly early tour at 7:30 looks very tempting but of course it is on the expensive side ($110). And there is official tour at 8:30 which is reasonably priced ($45). Would like to know how much crowded the place will get in an hour? will it be a mob scenario in an hour? if it is still manageable I would like to consider official tour.

Any other options to consider?

Funny you should ask as a very nice review for a midrange option just popped up today (with thanks to aarthurperry and his sidekick Jake):

Book it here through the Vatican's official website (if there are still openings):

The majority of people going to the museums are there to see the chapel. Because of this the chapel and the galleries leading up to it tend to get very crowded very quickly. These crowds have never bothered me much as I tend to visit the galleries I'm interested in and skip others.

I think if you plan to spend several hours in the museums it won't really matter what time you go. If your plan is to get in and out as quickly as possible then going as early as possible is the best way to do that.
