Looking for recommendations on Vatican tours. Also, when the Pope is in residence, it's my understanding his address is at noon on Wednesdays. How early should one get to St. Peters Square?

I would just book directly through the Vatican for a tour. They offer a few different ones. http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do As for the audience, they have been extremely crowded. I would get there a few hours early. donna

I booked "late in the game" and used a company Viators Granted it was a bit more expensive than going on a tour run by the Vatican, but I was pleased. Small group of 10 people, guide was an art student from Washington State, engaged to an Italian lady he met in art school. He was great. I also used this company in Milan and Venice.... because as I mentioned I was planning things at the last minute. Looks like with Viators the further in advance you book, the cheaper the
price.
