I booked a guided Vatican museum tour, received an email confirmation with a confirmation number but no date/time details, and no request for payment. Should I be skeptical that I have a true reservation? If so, what are my options in terms of best day/time to go mid-week? The Sistine Chapel is a must-see for me.
First off who did you book this tour with? I've gone with two different tour booking companies (Viatour and ArtFlorence?) and have always had to pay up front. If no money has passed between you and a commercial tour operator I'd say you don't really have a reservation, however, give it 24 hours. A computer problem perhaps?
If you booked through the official Vatican website you won't be able to pay up front. They have issues with credit cards and are unable to process them online right now. Your voucher should have come in the email. If not here is some information on how to get it re-sent. . I have followed the booking procedure but I haven't received the voucher, what can I do?
A. Click menu on the left to "Send voucher again" by ing in the appropriate fields, email, reservation code and date of birth of the person concerning the reservation. In case of no reception of the new email, contact the help desk at the above-mentioned email address. The email address they are referring to is [email protected] If you booked with another company you should call or email them for the information or what to do. Donna
Thank you for that information. The booking was through the official site and we received an email with an order number, authorization number. The email said "The amount on the voucher will be paid in cash at the internal ticket desk of the Vatican Museum", so that is reassuring to know they have credit card issues and this is standard. So, think I'm ok, just wish the email confirmed date and time. I'll be there in two weeks!
Check your spam box in case the appointment time was emailed separately.
Send email requesting the voucher to [email protected]
Same thing happened to me about two week ago, sent the email, and received voucher the next day.
