Vatican tour + colosseum night tour

Hi,
I am travelling to Italy in November and need some help with itinerary planning. I was thinking of going really early to Vatican city and look around Vatican museums, Sistine chapel, st Peters basilica, and the vatican Museums. Is it possible to come back to Rome the same day and see the 8:40pm nighttime Colosseum tour?
Or will Vatican city take all day?

What about the 10:10pm Colosseum tour?

thanks

Vatican City is essentially IN central Rome so you don't need to "come back" to it. How long it will take you to see the museums (the Sistine is IN the museums) and the basilica is entirely up to you: there are tours which cover the highlights of both in about 3 hours, or you can browse the enormous museum collections all day, if you wish to. The museums close at 18:00 (last entry at 16:00) and start hustling people out at 17:30 so yes, you could take in an evening tour of the Colosseum if you still have the energy to do so.

Do note that in November, coopculture evening tours of the Colosseum are only held on Fridays and Saturdays.

Yes you can visit all the places you mentioned in one day and come back to Rome. But then you would be just touching them all. But if you have 2 days to travel then I suggest book a combined tour of Sistine Chapel, Basilica and Vatican Museums for 1 day and on the 2nd day go for Colosseum, Roman Forums and Palatine Hill. There are many good sites which sell advanced online tickets. To name a few 'Headout', 'Tickitaly' and 'Ticketsrome'.

Jo, there are nights tours of the colosseum on most nights. It closes to the general public at 6pm but there are guided night tours through October.

To the OP, yes you can visit the Vatican area during the day and do a night tour of the colosseum but it will be an exhausting day.

There is no need to book any of these tickets through third party vendors. Use only the official websites to book tours or entry tickets.

This is absolutely doable. We did the early morning Vatican/Sistine tour and the night tour of the Colosseum over two days, but doing it in one would have been fine. Our Vatican tour was at 7:20. We walked back to our apartment and were there by 11:30. We had a rest and shower until the late afternoon then went out again. If we had done the Colosseum the same day, getting an early dinner and being there for the 8:20 tour would have been no problem. You won't be dealing with the summer heat, so you probably would do fine with a shorter break in the afternoon. I highly recommend both of these tours. It will already be dark when you do your tour, so you won't see the Colosseum in the changing light, but being there without huge crowds is unbeatable. Have fun!
