Hi
I just took the City Wonders Vatican Museum tour with access to St Peter's through the secret hallway.
Our guide said it was our lucky day because this was the last day tours were going to get the shortcut.
She said no more acces after March 1st.
This was the guide that told us this. So you may want to make sure before signing up for that type of tour.
The guide says all will need to go through the long regular line and walk all the way around the Vatican walls to get there.
Oh dear! Oh dear! Rats! Thanks for letting us know, mbosteder. Friend and I have booked and paid (refundable) for a Vatican day tour later this spring. We chose the company specifically because the description said that they enter St. Peter's from the Sistine Chapel through the "special exit." I will await other news from you all who go to Rome soon. Please let us know if this actually goes into effect.
(Editing former reply; had accidentally confused City Wonders with 3rd-party Get Your Guide.)
jmauldinuu, what you need to do is contact the company YOU booked with - hopefully not through a 3rd party - and ask if they're still able to access the basilica vis the shortcut.

Don't wait for feedback from other posters who may have booked with any number of companies who may or may not have access. Rely only on what the company YOU booked with can tell you. Not to disparage mbosteder's experience at all but it's possible that direct access will be denied to some - such as the one he used - but not ALL companies advertising that benefit.
As well, the Vatican Museums may suspend use of that corridor with little notice for certain events. As they say, nothing is 100% for certain except death and taxes! :O)
Give a shout back with what they tell you? Crossing fingers!
