Vatican Tickets Online

I have been attempting to purchase vatican tickets online using the mv.vatican.va website in the Rick Steves Guidebook, however, I am unable to purchase the tickets with a credit card. I keep receiving emails telling me that I have to purchase the tickets at the Vatican. The website itself states in FAQ that tickets can be purchased and that refunds are not available when purchased. What am I doing wrong?

Since the beginning of the year the Vatican has not been able to take credit cards over the internet. You can make the booking but when you pick up the tickets you'll pay for them then. Be sure to bring enough cash. Donna

I recently booked the museum tickets. They just send you a reservation # which you show to receive & pay for your tickets. I think that it said to be there early,

I second Barb's comments. I just did the same thing. I got a voucher emailed to me. Just make sure you bring the voucher with you, they'll scan it and you pay then.

Thanks to all- it appears as if the website will not allow credit card payment. I have now received the "voucher" to be presented at the Vatican. It is strange because the website itself mentions that payment can be made by credit card and even mentions that no refunds are available!

Sue - Be sure to read the "notes" at the bottom of the .pdf that comes with your email. We reserved our tickets in May and got the same thing back. It looks as if the cc has been charged already, but the side notes and the ones below explain what to do with the vouchers. Enjoy your trip everyone! Kate

I just purchased two tickets for the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel online and I definitely used a credit card which was charged €40. I received the voucher and on it is written the charges, including two tickets and two internet fees. There is no indication that I need to pay at the Vatican, so maybe this recently changed to being possible. Here is the web site I used: [email protected] This seems to be the same web site that you've cited in your original post. Is your trip already over?
