My friend and I will be traveling to Rome Sept. 19 to Sept. 23rd and want to see the Vatican. I heard that it's better to get your tickets ahead of time, but we don't know what the best site would be to do that. Also, when we have our tickets is there a separate line that we go to so it's shorter? Any information would help, we just don't want to be stuck in a long line to go see the Vatican with no tickets.
Do you mean the Vatican museum?
Yes, the Vatican museum.
To see the Vatican museums without lining up for a ticket, you have to sign up for a guided tour. There are private tours, as well as guided tours done by Musuem staff. You can fax to book a time and day. See http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/z-Info/MV_Info_Servizi_Visite.html , or google for private companies offering tours.
we went directly thru the vatican and requested an english tour and the guide was great...and it was great to avoid the line....we heard back in 24-48 hours ...sent back our confirmation and then printed our receipt and you pay when you get there....the entrance for the tours is at the head of the line cost was 29 euros.
